Our building is a 200 year old coach house which was then converted in to Paddy's family home & Pub (Guerin's Bar). The family home is now the Kingfisher Lodge. As mentioned, this building is 200 years old and is modernised as far as possible without damaging the character and heritage of the building. You will find that it is certainly clean, warm and welcoming. But, it does come with character. We say this as we would just like to set your expectations. We have many gleaming reviews which also come with many pictures and videos across many platforms such as Google, Booking.com & Facebook, you will find this easily online. Please be advised, all of our rooms share a communal bathroom which is strictly for our guests only and is found on the same floor as the rooms. It comes equipped with a shower, bath, sink & toilet. Toiletries and towels are also provided. While we do provide a fridge, microwave and tea / coffee station in the landing area, there is no cooking facilities. Every room comes with a smart tv with Disney, Netflix, Prime & more. We also offer high speed fibre optic wifi. Our traditional Irish pub is attached to our lodge. Guests are welcome to come and have a pint and listen to music. Live traditional music is a common occurance and sets the tone for an enjoyable night, sitting by the open fire and enjoying a drink. Additionally, for those who may enjoy fishing. Castleconnell Salmon Fishery is one of the most prestigious Salmon Fisheries in Ireland, located on the Shannon just 7 miles, 11 kms upriver of Limerick City and tidal water. The Fishery is about 4.5 miles long comprising 6 beats, each permitting 4 rods per beat. Each beat has up to six or more pools. The Fishery operates from sunrise to sunset seven days a week from March 1st to end of season September 30th. Paddy, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable about this and will guide you in the right direction should you wish to go fishing. More locally, we have the Castleoaks House Hotel and Bamboo Garden Asian restaurant. For breakfast and lunch there is the Shannon House or for a coffee, tea and pastry there is the ProTea cafe. Lodgers are more than welcome to bring their food to the pub downstairs to enjoy it there. There is also other local amenities in the village such a Shannon Stores corner shop. Whisps hairdressers. Sloans and Greencross Pharmacies. Supervalu Supermarket and Spin City, our local laundrette. There is also a train station just a one minute walk away which will bring you to Limerick City as well as a bus station just outside our front door. We also offer a private carpark for our guests. The large windows in this room make it light and airy and the pleasant mix of pine features combined with a lavender and cream décor help to ensure a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. There is a separate family bathroom that services the ground floor bedroom. The three bedrooms upstairs on the first floor all have ensuites. They comprise of a double bedroom with plenty of space and storage. Again, wooden floors mingle with soft pastel accents to induce a calming sense of zen and there is also a white ensuite bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower cubicle. There is a second double bedroom featuring wooden floors and a bright pink feature wall, which gives it a zing of colourful fun. This bedroom also contains an ensuite bathroom with toilet, shower cubicle and sink. The third bedroom is a twin room with two single beds, wardrobe and again an ensuite with shower cubicle, toilet and sink. Bathrooms The three ensuite bathrooms all have shower cubicles, toilets and sinks. There is also a separate family bathroom on the ground floor that contains a full-length bath with shower attachment, a toilet and a sink. Kitchen and Dining The light cream country kitchen is beautifully spacious with a vaulted style ceiling and boasts a lot of storage cupboards and wood countertop. As well as the oven, grill and electric hobs, there is also a microwave, kettle and toaster.
